Online banking is very much popular in the United Kingdom, according to a new study made by comScore.

Thirty-three percent, or roughly a third of UK Internet users avail of online banking services. The study showed that about 10.9 million users availed of online banking at least once in January of this current year.

The most accessed banking website is the Royal Bank of Scotland or RBS which had a total of 2.9 million visitors. Close to RBS is Loyds TSB, having a total of 2.8 million visitors, with an average visit of 7 visits per customer.

It is expected that more users will be banking through the Internet in the months to come. With majority of banks and other financial institutions boosting online banking security, the number of users are expected to rise even more.

The comScore study still does not include Internet traffic from Internet cafes and mobile devices like cellphones and PDAs. If you enjoy reading this article, you'll surely be interested in learning how to choose a bank.

Traditionally I think the reason why the UK and the rest of Europe are behind the times in their Internet use is because their infrastructure for the Internet is behind North America.
