More Singaporeans Favor Online Banking
Singapore banks are seeing their clients have an uptake on the use of the Internet in transacting business with them, having thousands of users logging-in every month.
In a ZDNet Asia interview, the banks interviewed said that they favor the increase in popularity of online banking services. This favorable trend, they say, benefits both them and their clients.
The Standard Chartered bank says that back in 2007, only 25 percent of their customers avail of their services that they offer on the Internet. Now, figures have jumped to more than four times, having up to 200,000 Internet banking log-ins every month.
Banks also see a rise in use of mobile services because it happens to be more convenient than online banking. However, most of the Singaporeans using mobile banking services also use Internet banking, where mobile banking is simply their backup means of access to their bank accounts. Good point, sonic. I know online banking is generally secure, but with all the hackers nowadays, I'm still not ready to put all my trust in online banking. It's good to transact online from time to time for convenience, but I still prefer traditional methods.on 2008-09-19 at 01:11:05
This really isn't a wonder. Aside from Singapore being one of Asia's techno-hubs, after Japan, China, and Korea, Singaporeans are also always busy that they don't have time to go to banks to transact their business.
